Pacific Northwest Indian Art

The special commissioned Pacific Northwest Indian art thunderbird carving that master carver Cody Mathias has been working on finally arrived yesterday.  This is a special piece that was done for a client out in Florida.

This wonderful thunderbird is quite a hefty piece too with a wingspan of 54 inches, height of 18 inches and has a thickness of almost 2 inches at points.  You can just imagine the box that was required to ship it in.

Needless to say, the client is quite excited from the photos we sent him in advance even though he had to wait about two months for Cody to complete the piece.  This time period is quite typical for any of the custom commissioned artwork that we arrange through the master carvers and artists since they are quite busy.

How Custom Commissioned Northwest Indian Art Works

For more information on how custom commissioned Pacific Northwest Indian artwork is arranged, see the link.  One thing we always tell potential clients ahead of time upfront is that first, there is a deposit required to start the entire process, and second, don’t expect pieces to be done right away.  Waiting for a few months is normal and expected but the end results are always awesome.

This is the first time that a thunderbird was requested by special commission.  For more information on this art subject, see our information webpage on the Pacific Northwest Indian art thunderbird.

Here are some more photos of this Pacific Northwest Indian art thunderbird that will be shipped to the lucky client.
